Events

We are excited to offer both in-person and online classes and tours to help prepare parents for their new arrivals. Below are the available options. Patients may register by calling (844) 623-3113. If there is any difficulty with registration, please contact us and leave a message at (205) 877-2626. Someone will return your call within 24-48 hours.

For the in-person and virtual two-hour classes, you will go through four chapters: Labor, Medical Procedures, Newborn and Postpartum. You will be able to access the other chapters at your own pace.

The virtual class is offered via Zoom with a live instructor. The e-class is a self-navigated class where you access the materials online at your own pace.

All in-person classes are offered at Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital in the classroom on the sixth floor of the Women's Medical Center. We are excited to share this time with you and look forward to enhancing your journey.

Birth Navigator Appointments

  • These are offered in-person and via phone call.
  • The in-person appointments are offered in the birth navigator suite across from the gift shop on the 1st floor of the main hospital.
  • These are private appointments with one of our Women's team members. The in-person appointments also include a private tour so there is no need to register for a separate maternity tour.
  • Your birth navigator will go through the hospital paperwork needed as well to give you information on the classes we offer. They will answer any questions you have and customize the information for your needs.

Maternity Tours

You will be in a small group and be given a tour of our labor/delivery unit, mother-baby/ postpartum unit, parking, be able to ask questions and find out more information about your stay.

Prepared Childbirth Class

This class has 3 options: In-person, Virtual, and E-class and all classes include a link to access materials online.

  • 8 chapters designed to help you explore pregnancy, birth, and beyond
  • Learn about labor - preparing for birth, pre-labor signs, onset of labor, 3-D animation of labor process and more.
  • Gain information about the medical procedures that may occur in the hospital and different option available.
  • Learn about newborn procedures and what to expect in the early days.
  • Discover what to expect during the postpartum period after birth.

Breastfeeding Class

  • This class has virtual and in-person options, presented by a registered nurse lactation consultant.
  • Learn about the first few days after delivery, through the first few months, and beyond.
  • Partners are encouraged to participate. The class will also include the opportunity to ask questions.

Maximizing Milk Production Class

  • Answers common questions about breastfeeding and milk production.
  • Gives reasons for milk insufficiency and more insight on how to have a good supply.

Comfort Techniques Class

  • This class is offered in-person. It gives more insight to using comfort techniques to help throughout labor, especially if you are planning to not use medication during labor.
  • Discover helpful comfort techniques - breathing, relaxation, massage, visualization, focal points, hydrotherapy, labor and pushing positions, advice for partners and more.
